I seriously wish there were more stars. I have an iPhone with a battery that was slowly dying, Apple pointed to a little ding in the bottom of my screen and said they can not replace my battery because there is a chance it will break the screen. The screen would cost close to $200 and I was basically agreeing to pay for that if they were to do the work.Called iFix instead. They said they would charge $70 if the screen broke but they'll do their best to be careful. Dropped if off at 12, was told next day because they didnt have the right battery in stock, but got a call three hours later, the phone was ready — no busted screen. Amazing. (This is the second time I've swapped a battery with them, the last time was also an iPhone. They warned me that given the 'symtpoms' the problem could be more serious than just an old battery. I took my chances, but they were correct, it didn't last. Still very happy with that experience.)I love Apple, but they will do anything to make an extra dollar — or make everything an expensive hassle so we just fold and buy a new device. I'm sure Apple would have busted the screen, there's no incentive for their techs not to. Very glad I can now have a phone for another couple of years instead of chucking yet another thing into the global landfill.
